Our approach and values

Pieff is a consulting firm that brings together people with shared values in work and life. We respect the interests of our clients and colleagues, and seek simple, effective solutions to complex challenges.

We do not advise from the sidelines: we work alongside our clients to implement change. Our focus is on tangible, measurable and lasting results, not reports for their own sake.

We value maturity, accountability and the willingness to make decisions. Teamwork, mutual support and trust in the people delivering our projects are essential. The role requires a high degree of mobility and a willingness to work at client sites, including locations across the country.

Our recruitment process

1
Submit your CV

If you are interested in joining us, the first step is to submit your CV.

Focus your CV on the most important information about you. Where possible, describe your achievements at work or in your studies in terms of quantifiable results. We also recommend asking at least three people to review your CV and identify any areas that could be stronger.

Send your CV to maria.usacheva@pieff.pro

2
HR interview

If your CV is shortlisted, we will invite you to an HR interview.

The competency-based interview lasts about an hour. It is an opportunity for both sides to decide whether we are a good fit. We would like to hear concise examples of your achievements, your ability to work with others and how you make decisions under pressure. A simple situation–problem–solution structure will help us understand your personal contribution.

We will also assess your English and advanced Microsoft Office skills.

3
Two online case interviews

Each case interview lasts 1.5–2 hours. It begins with a fit discussion, including behavioural questions similar to those asked in the HR interview, followed by one or two operations cases. During the case discussion, we want to understand your reasoning and whether you can develop workable hypotheses.

4
In-person partner interview in Moscow

The interview with a senior partner follows the same format as the previous stage, but takes place in person in Moscow. At the end, make sure you ask any questions you would like answered.

5
Two online case interviews

We provide feedback after each stage. Following the final interview with a senior partner, HR will also call you with feedback to support your development.

If you pass every stage except the last, you may have the opportunity to apply again after 18 months. We would still be interested in hearing from you.

Preparing for a case interview

Each stage requires preparation. Think of the recruitment process as an opportunity to get to know the Pieff team, our principles and how we work.

Case interviews are a central part of recruitment at Pieff. They help us assess your ability to structure business problems, perform mental calculations and communicate clearly, as well as the technical skills required for the role.

Practise
Practise, practise, practise. Solving cases is a skill you can develop: the more cases you work through, the more comfortable you will feel in a Pieff case interview.
Check for completeness
A complete issue tree matters. As you structure it, ask yourself: have I covered all the possibilities? Are there any gaps or overlapping branches?
Break the problem down
Break the problem down, isolate the most promising area and investigate it further.
Ask questions
If anything is unclear, ask for clarification and confirm your understanding. Do not make unsupported assumptions.
Keep it simple
Follow a clear, logical path to the solution. A systematic approach makes it easier for you to reach the right answer and for the interviewer to understand how you think.
Prioritise
Do not try to boil the ocean. At every stage, prioritise according to the potential impact and how readily it can be achieved.
